ABOUT DR.

Dr. Mary Fontana graduated from the University of Detroit Dental School in 1986. She worked as an associate dentist until December of 1989, when she opened her practice of Contemporary Family Dentistry in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Tremendous growth of the practice enabled her to move to a bigger, state-of-the-art facility in January of 2004 on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Woods.

Dr. Fontana provides all types of General Dentistry including comprehensive preventative treatment, sealants for children, root canals, oral surgery, custom mouth guards, periodontal treatment, dentures, implants, crown and bridge work, full mouth reconstruction, cosmetic veneers, and the most up-to-date tooth whitening systems including the popular ZOOM!^®

Dr. Fontana received the FAGD (Fellowship Academy of General Dentistry) Award in July of 2004 where over 500 hours of continuing education were obtained from around the country to keep her knowledge and skills at the forefront of dentistry. While her work speaks for itself, her patients and highly professional staff also attest to her level of commitment, quality, and professional responsibility. She is a perfectionist at heart, pays close attention to detail, and strives to achieve comfort and function with the best possible aesthetics on every patient. Dr. Fontana is an active member of the MDA (Michigan Dental association), the ADA (American Dental Association), and the AGD (Academy of General Dentistry). A large portion of her up-to-date education was obtained from Dr. Bill Dorfman, a noted dentist seen on ABC's Extreme Makeover.

You may recognize Dr. Fontana's name from one of many charity events where she routinely donates her tooth whitening services to raise money for various worthy causes. She is also actively involved in the Grosse Pointe Sunrise Rotary Club, whose "service above self" provides dollars for scholarship funds and local community service projects.
