FILLING OPTIONS
A filling is the placement of a material in a tooth to restore its shape, size and function. You and Dr. Fontana make the decision of which filling option is best for you!

Amalgam has been used for over a century to fill and restore decayed teeth. This material closely resembles normal tooth structure.

Composite fillings are made of plastic (resin) and come in a variety of colors to match your teeth. The wear resistance has improved over the years and can be used on the biting surface of back teeth as well as on front teeth to restore or cosmetically bond them.

Gold fillings are not as cosmetic as composite fillings but are excellent, long term, durable restorations.

CHILDREN
Dr. Fontana provides a kid-friendly atmosphere! We have a monthly stuffed animal drawing and treasure box full of surprises for children 3 years old and up. Preventative measures such as fluorides, regular cleanings and exams, can help eliminate future dental problems

Sealants may be applied on the biting surface of the back teeth to protect them from the harmful effects of plaque and decay.

MOUTH GUARD

A mouth guard is a custom-made, transparent, plastic appliance that is worn on the top teeth. The guard absorbs the force of clenching and grinding to reduce jaw joint irritation. Mouth guards may also be worn to protect teeth while playing sports or even while lifting heavy weights to avoid premature wearing.

ROOT CANALS

A root canal removes the nerve inside of a tooth. This procedure is usually performed because the nerve has died, the tooth has abscessed, or has had a traumatic injury.
EXTRACTIONS
An extraction is simply the removal of a tooth. This is usually the last resort when all other treatment measures have been taken to save it. Sometimes teeth are selectively removed for orthodontic or crowding reasons
